SAN DIEGO

Howdy everyone! Just in case you are wondering...I FEEL STUNNING!

I know it has been a long time since my last post, but I promise it won't be too long before my next. In the time between my last post and now not a whole lot has happened. One big trip was my San Diego trip that involved Kevo and Frank also.

Last week I drove down to San Diego. On Thursday, I stopped and stayed a night with Frank (who was in LA for the weekend). Although we didn't go out and do anything, I got to see his folks again and catch up with my brutha-from-anotha-motha. It was nice hanging out.

On Friday I left Frank's to visit one of the best bars in the world... THE AERO CLUB!!! Yes it deserved all caps...its that cool. If you have not been there friends..go NOW! I was there about an hour before Kevo got out of his meeting. We ended up being there for a few hours before we headed to the hotel to check in and wait for Bryan. When Bryan got there we went out. Jessica met us and we all had a great time. I ended up blacking out and dancing with chicks....all of this i don't remember...of course.

The next day was definately a recovery day. We lounged around the hotel before heading to Coronado beach. It was a blast for sure. That night, we decided that our catch phrase was "SHUT UP!" We had a little game going where we told each other to shut up...sounds lame but it was funny!

On sunday, Kevo and Bryan left around noon and I went back to the beach to meet some of my Boron friends that went down there for the day. It was a good time and I got a little red. After that I met up with my favorite cousin and watched STATE OF PLAY. Which i will discuss a little later.

Well folks...thats pretty much it! Thanks for stopping by!

REVIEW OF "STATE OF PLAY":

I thought the movie was entertaining. It seemed as if it were a documentary, but still a very entertaining movie. Some of the twists and plot paths seemed out of place and unneccisary though.

As for acting, Russel Crowe and Ben Affleck were good but the old lady who played the newspaper editor SUCKED! WHY? Because of her British accent and usage of British terms such as WANKER and SHAG. GO BACK TO ENGLAND!

That is all. Money out.

Watchmen and pong.

Hey everyone!

My weekend was a fun one for sure. On Friday, my friends and I went and watched the superhero movie “Watchmen”. It was a good really good movie, though pretty erratic. It seemed as though the scenes switched around way too much. Also, the music choice was weak at best. Weird songs during amazing fight scenes kind of took the focus off of the bone crushing action. The effects and fighting were amazing though. The movie was also very gory. A few bodies blew up…never a bad thing in any movie.

On Saturday, my friend’s wife had her birthday party. Two beer pong tables = too much fun. Translation for Kevo…Two Beirut tables = too much fun. Overall I went 4-1 with my friend and 4-0 with his sister. That’s right, 9 games. It really isn’t that much when you consider I won 8, so I didn’t drink as much as I could have.

Now for an update on my track team. We had track meets last night and last Wednesday. The meet on last Wednesday was our first League competition and I’m proud to say that we won. We had multiple people who placed first in more than 3 events. We are looking to win our league for the second year in a row. Last night was just a practice meet for us and a lot of our members did not attend due to college prep meetings.

Well that is it for me. Thanks for stopping in!

Meetings and Track Meets

Hello there friends! I hope everyone is doing good out there. I have been super busy for the last two weeks, so i haven't posted in a while.

I am not sure if I have mentioned this or not, but I am a teacher and I coach the Track and Field team at my high school. This week is the week that we have our annual meetings about ESLR's which are "Expected Schoolwide Learnign Results." Im not going to get into it too much, but it forces teachers to do alot more work. Not fun...not fun at all.

Coaching my Track team, however, is fun. We have had two meets so far. I mainly coach the jumpers (long jump and triple jump) and the shot putters. I am proud to say that our team is very good. We have some athletes who could really make it far. I am especially proud of the improvement of the athletes I work directly with. They are already at the level that they left off on last year and it is only two weeks into the season. I can only see more improvement in their future.

Other than that, last weekend I went to santa clarita to film the first of multiple short films dubbed "Ninja Vs. Kung-foo" where i play a Kung-foo master and my buddy mike plays a ninja who breaks into my house. It is funny. My acting...even more funny.

Anyway guys and gals, I have to get back to class. Nutrition break is over. I bid you Adieu.

Guns, Tanks, and Dirt Bikes...OH MY!

Hello everyone. Its time to hear what I did over the weekend. Its funny that i say weekend, because everything really happened in a 20 hour span.

During the week, a friend of mine,Shay, that i recently started hanging out with again,(we went our separate ways after high school, but moved back to the area around the same time) planned a "guys day" with him, his brother Warren, and myself. We decided to start early to fit in as much as possible. And boy did we...here is how our day went.

8:00 a.m.- I go pick up Warren and drive out to four corners where my family owns property. We meet Shay at my dad's shop and prepare to go shooting. First, however, we decided to ride on my dad's tank. It is an APC-114 (Armored Personel Carrier). It is a blast! It really is all that is manly in this world; a loud hunk of steel that can run over any thing at any time. If that doesnt get your testosterone pumping, then i dont know what will!

9:00 a.m.- After we were done riding the tank, we decided it was time to shoot. I brought out my S&W 40 and my Browning 9mm, Shay brought his Glock 9. We then began to search for bottles and load them in my jeep. After we found enough to satisfy us, we took them out into the desert and starting setting up our make-shift shooting range. Then we proceeded to shoot away. It was a good time, talking and telling stories. My aim was average, i was satisfied with it. Afterwards, we romped through the desert in my jeep and just shot the shit.

12:00 p.m.- Warren had informed us earlier that he had to work at noon, so when we noticed it was already noon and we were still shooting, we were surprised. He called to inform his work that he would be late, only to find out that he didnt have to work until 4:00 p.m. Naturally, we were stoked! Since we were all pretty much done shooting we decided to move on to our next activity, riding dirtbikes.

This was, in my opinion, the funnest part of the day. This was the first time in about eight years that i rode a dirtbike. I got in a pretty bad accident on a dirt bike and hadnt riden since. It took me alot to get back on, but i am sure glad i did! We decided we were a dirt bike gang. Our name is too vulgar to say in this blog but it incorperates the first letter of our names (D,S,W).

During this time, my buddy Sean from San Diego (a good friend of Frank and me) called me and told me he was going to be in town for a wedding reception. Small world! We decided to meet up at a later time that night.

3:30 p.m.- It was time to take Warren to work, so we put the dirt bikes away and headed out. After dropping Warren off, me and Shay decided to go to Domingo's and have a beer or two while waiting for Warren to get off work. At this time, Sean called me and told me he wanted to hang out for a little bit. He and his girlfriend met Shay and I at Domingo's and had some drinks with us. It was nice fun hanging out with new friends and old friends.

8:00 p.m.- The 12 hour mark came just as Warren picked us up from Domingo's. We were noticably buzzed and lookin for the next party. Shay's wife called and said she wanted to go to a bar in Silver Lakes, the community that Shay lives. I was totally down with this, so we all rolled out there. For the rest of the night, we partied at two different bars and had a great time.

4:00 a.m.- We closed the bar down and hung out for a while after hours. We finally went home and went to bed around 4. It was a great night, but that meant Sunday was recovery day....ooh getting old.

Well, thanks for stopping by! I hope I didnt ramble too much!

Midieval Times

Here is the deal folks. This last weekend was so incredibly boring for me that I will not bore you by talking about it. I was bogged down with paperwork all weekend. Not to worry though, after reading Frank's blog I got an idea on what to blog about: Medieval Times

Coincidentally, when I went to Medieval Times, my group was also in the Green Knight section. It really is the only knight that's worth his weight it gold. I went with a group of ten friends, two of them being Mike and Trevor, my best friends. We, of course, get rowdy about everything we do. This meant that the Green Knight was going to have the rowdiest cheering section all the land.

From the very beginning we went nuts cheering for our boy Green. He was kickin' every other knight's butt through the whole thing so we were just off yon hook. The events were awesome and very entertaining. We led the whole green section, not just our group of 10, in chants. These chants included:

"When I say green, you say knight. Green! Knight! Green! Knight!"

and the popular

"Green, Green he's our knight, if he don't win we'll start to fight!"
It was awesome...i don't think I've had that much fun acting like a teenager since...well...i was a teenager. Then it happened. Our Knight won the tournament and we blew up! We sent our group into a frenzy. This, however, was short lived. He was then betrayed by some tool-box and stabbed in the back. We were FURIOUS! We talked smack to the king on our way out because he was dissin our boy Green.

I definitely say you should go to medieval times once in your life...you will not regret it!

Well thats it for me! Hopefully next weekend will bring something more exciting!

Darr Family Reunion.

So, my weekend went pretty well. We Darrs had our annual Darr Family Reunion. And what Darr Family Reunion means for me, is chauffer. I get to give 20 kids under the age of 12 a ride on our many military vehicles. They delegate this job to me because I am a teacher and they assume I am great with kids. In all honest, I enjoy it.

The kids enjoy the tank (an APC-114) the best. Those things are louder than Dane Cook, I’m tellin’ ya! I have learned to do some mad brodies and doughnuts in it. I can get it rocking for sure. I also get to lead the Jeep caravan through the desert, which is really fun. Visiting with my family members, especially the older ones, is always the highlight of the weekend. I love their stories and hearing about my ancestors. They also tell me how good looking I am many times, which is always nice. I mean, they are right, but its nice to hear (no brag just fact, right?)

After the reunion was over, I went to visit my buddy Mike in Santa Clarita. There we partied and talked about the next movie we will be filming called “Bum Rush”, in which I play a bum….who gets killed. That’s right, another movie starring THE Dennis Darr.

Now, as I promised I am going to review the movie Appaloosa. Appaloosa stars Ed Harris, who also directed, Jeremy Irons, and Viggo Mortenson. Ed Harris is pretty boring, but Viggo Mortenson is the man…with or without Frodo. Jeremy Irons is also the shit. The story is pretty decent, and the movie is pretty entertaining. I would definitely rent it. WORD OF WARNING! Renee Zellweger is in this movie! This makes some scenes almost unbearable. WHY DOES SHE KEEP GETTING WORK??

Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

Money and the Movies

Hey there everybody!

My week was really boring so I am going to instead write about a couple weekends ago when I had the opportunity to fulfill one of my all-time dreams: Be a MOVIE STAR! That’s right boys and girls; you are reading the blog of the next Arnold Schwarzenegger or Clint Eastwood (or at least Richard Greco). In reality, it was a short film made by some friends of mine, it was semi-professional, and it will be entered into multiple film festivals. So its not just some idiots with a video camera. I play of the main characters and get my neck snapped in the end…it was sweet.

Here is the plot: I am a member of a Narcotics unit of an unnamed police department. During one particular drug raid, I bring my trainee along for some extra muscle. This drug raid is different than others, however, because we plan to kill the drug-lord, who is also an informant, and steal his money. ( I know you are lovin’ this already!) After we raid the house, we shoot the drug-lord and plant a gun on him to “articulate the shooting”. My trainee does not agree with this, but has to go along with it because he is highly outnumbered. A few days later, the leader of our group decides that the trainee cannot be trusted and that we should “deal with him” before he can rat us out. We drug his beer and take him out to the desert to kill him. He ends up being a complete bad-ass and killing everyone else one by one. That is all I’m going to tell you right now….you will have to watch the movie to see the rest.

The title is “THE REAL DEAL”, I will let everyone know when it comes out on Youtube or something to that effect. Now doesn’t that sound like an awesome movie? Like I said earlier, I’m no Eastwood or Schwarzenegger but I do have a fight scene and my death scene is sweet.

Clint Eastwood and Arnold are my favorite actors. So I was very happy to see Eastwood directing and starring in a new movie “Gran Torino”. This movie ROCKED! It was like Dirty Harry at 78 yrs old. I laughed, I cried, and I got that tingly feeling when he growled “Get of my lawn!” to those punks. He played the part of “grumpy old man” as only Clint Eastwood could. Even at 78 he commanded respect and even got some laughs in there. Go watch it. Then, when it comes out on DVD/Blue Ray, buy it. Finally, when it’s on TNT, T-VO or DVR it. Don’t steal it though, because he will break you off one serious!

Next week I'll let you guys know what I think of the Western Movie "Appaloosa".

Also, I tried two new beers this weekend; Firestone Double Barrel, and Wingwalker IPA. Both delightful.

Well thats all! Thanks for stopping by!

Money's Thoughts

Hello all,

My weekend was pretty sweet. I went to the second funnest wedding I've ever been to (first, of course, being Franks).

Im getting ahead of myself. Let's start from the beginning. Friday I taught...you know, my job. It was an average day until an 8th grader decided to yell the all-mighty F word. The only curse that is referred to with the word THE in front of it. So I basically own his soul now.
Friday night I went to the local bar and sung karaoke. Favorite song choice of mine: "I ran" by A Flock of Sea Gulls.

On Saturday I went out in the desert and shot my new gun. It's a Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum (aka the Dirty Harry gun). I'm up to four guns now. A 9mm Browning High-Power, a Smith & Wesson .40, a shot gun, and the .44 Mag.

The wedding that night was fun. The reception involved a lot of drinking and dancing. After that we went to a few more bars and just had a great time celebrating a friend taking the plunge.

On Sunday, a photographer from some website came out to my dad's shop and took pictures of naked chicks for a calendar. So I got to see a bunch of naked chicks. Never a bad thing.

That night was, of course, the super bowl. I hated the outcome but a great game. I then went home and went to sleep. Work on Monday = no booze.

That's it! Thanks for stopping in!
